Description:
I’m experiencing a bug where the Kimi mobile app stalls on normal messages (not just long text), and when I background the app and reopen it, the chat becomes locked in a read-only document view with all previous conversation history erased and the text input box completely gone.
What I did:
1. Opened an existing chat.
2. Pasted a full novel chapter into the chat so I could use the voice function to listen to it and catch anything I missed during my own read-through.
3. After listening to the chapter, I sent a follow-up message asking for help with editing.
4. The app froze/stall — it showed no response or loading indicator.
5. I swiped away from the app to background it.
6. When I reopened the app and returned to the same chat, the UI had switched to a plain document/reader view showing only the pasted chapter text.
7. The chat title changed to a hash string (e.g., `ffaaf56b…`).
8. The text input box is completely gone. There is no way to send a follow-up message.
9. All previous conversation history is missing. There is no back-and-forth between myself and Kimi — only the document text remains.
10. This same stalling behavior is now happening in real time even in active chats with simple, normal-length messages (e.g., asking for help composing this bug report). The app is stalling on basic conversational input, not just long creative text.
What I expected:
The chat to remain in normal conversation mode with a working input box and full message history visible, so I can continue editing after voice review and have normal back-and-forth conversation.
What happened instead:
The chat is trapped in a read-only document view with no input box and no access to previous messages. I cannot reply, continue the conversation, or reference earlier edits. The content does still exist when viewed via kimi.com in a browser, but the mobile app session is corrupted. Additionally, the app is now stalling on simple messages in active chats.
Frequency:
This has happened in multiple chat sessions. The stalling is occurring on both long creative text and normal conversational messages.
