Allegretto Annual Member — Kimi Code Forced HighSpeed After Beta, 3× Token Consumption, No Standard Toggle

Hi everyone,

I’m an Allegretto annual member, purchased recently) and I’ve been a happy Kimi Code user since the beta period. Since the beta ended, my experience has changed dramatically for the worse.

What changed:

  • During beta: token consumption was predictable and sustainable.

  • After beta: same usage patterns, but quota burns 3× faster.

  • The Kimi Code Console shows “Standard / HighSpeed (6× speed, 3× usage)” but there is no toggle to select Standard.

  • My API calls via api.kimi.com/coding/v1 appear to be forced into HighSpeed mode with no opt-out.

Impact: My weekly quota now lasts 2–3 days instead of a full week. This makes my annual membership effectively unusable for daily work. I did not sign up for forced HighSpeed — I signed up for the service that worked during the beta.

What I’ve tried:

  • Checked all settings in the Kimi Code Console — no Standard toggle exists.

  • Confirmed my Zed config uses kimi-k2.7-code (not -highspeed), but the membership endpoint seems to force HighSpeed anyway.

Request to Moonshot: Please either:

  1. Add a setting/API parameter to disable HighSpeed on the membership endpoint, OR

  2. Offer a partial refund/pro-rata credit since the post-beta service no longer matches what I paid for.

I love the product and want to stay loyal, but this needs to be sustainable. Has anyone else hit this?

Thanks, Enrico Pitea [masked]

Hi Enrico,

Please refer to our official documentation for third-party agents: Using in Third-Party Coding Agents | Kimi Code Docs

To clarify, you are NOT being forced into HighSpeed mode. HighSpeed is strictly opt-in and is only triggered if you explicitly pass the exact model ID: kimi-for-coding-highspeed.

Passing kimi-k2.7-code — or even kimi-k2.7-code-highspeed — in Zed does not activate HighSpeed on our backend; your requests are being processed in Standard mode. To ensure full compatibility, please update your Zed configuration to use the official Standard Model ID: kimi-for-coding.

Just to add a quick note: the 6× speed improvement in HighSpeed mode makes a very noticeable difference in real-world usage. Since you have the Allegretto plan, I highly recommend configuring the model ID to kimi-for-coding-highspeed just to test it out and experience the performance boost yourself.
